Match Classification Working Parties have been set up
by Andrew Hignell

Following discussions at the Association`s AGM at Trent Bridge, and also at the Committee Meeting yesterday, a decision has been taken to create two working parties which will discuss in further detail a number of issues relating to (a) the existing classification of pre-1801 matches and (b) the current List A classification for one-day games.

The “pre-1801 matches working party” and the “limited overs working party” will both be chaired by Philip Bailey, and further details will appear in the next issue of the Association`s Journal, as well as on this website.

At a later date, a third working party will also be created to discuss issues relating to the classification of other senior representative matches. This follows a number of points raised at the AGM, as well as in the e-mail forum, relating to the two-day match in 2005 between Essex and the touring Australians – a game which is not currently classed as either first-class or List A.
